Anticipated Time When Sori Are Mature

When to look for mature spores from NC native ferns

     Information obtained from the NC Biodiversity Project under each plant.

     We are currently studying the sexual reproductive window of four NC native ferns at the NCBG. [Adiantum pedatum, Dryopteris ludoviciana, Polystichum acrostichoides and Phegopteris hexagonopteria]

Appearance of Sori

 Some sori have indusia and the sori usually change color when transitioning from immature to mature stages.
